Lågsjö teater is a touring theatre company based in Gnesta, Sweden. Founded in 2012 by Kristina Sahlberg, Jonatan Ed and Maria Magdolna Beky Winnerstam, the Company now is led by Artistic Director Maria Magdolna Beky Winnerstam working closely together with Annika Lykta, David Carmel and Jonatan Ed.
The Company has created 6 productions and played for over 4000 children touring in the Swedish region Sörmland and Stockholms län but also played for adult audiences at the Royal Swedish Academy of Science, at the Almedalen political week and also at Stockholm Fringe Festival.
Långsjö teater started off as a collective and today co-creative processes, openness and curiosity are the core qualities of the Company´s work. The Company is known for working close to interdisciplinary sustainability research and also for having a longer period of time of own research before each production. The artistic language of the Company is complex embodying and experimenting with various disciplines as storytelling, clown and mask, live music, kathakali and other body work. The performances often have an improvisational and interactive part where each audience of each performance has the chance to receive a unique experience. The visual aesthetics of the productions have until now been inspired by kathakali costumes and original forms of theatre.
The Companys exploration and searching for new insights is currently leading to collaborations with new artists and performers; exploring new aesthetics of trash that can be made precious, exploring dance as a detailed expression and discussions of intention, digital music expression, lighting and video work.
Långsjö teater aims to be a creative platform that is open to various kinds of collaborations and develop actor-led processes and productions.
Långsjö teater has a a small but cosy performance space situated in Lokstallet in Gnesta. Artists, dancers and performers are welcome to come and use the space for research, rehearsals or shows.
